Step one: Take a Challenger.
Step two: Take that new 6.7 litre engine with 900 ft-lbs of torque that Dodge just announced, add to the Challenger.
Step three: Strip the interior, reinforce EVERYTHING (would duallies fit in the back of a Challenger? May need to put in fender flarings), paint matte grey with glossy black stripes
Step four: ???
Step five: Profit.
This may be the dumbest idea I’ve ever come up with.

What would it be called?
Also 10 second car?
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:44 |
|
Fuck if I know for the second one. And I’m not great at naming things, so I’ll leave the naming ideas to everyone else.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:45 |

I think step 4 is to install cameras to see around giant iron anchor in your field of view.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:46 |

Haha, ambitious for sure. That Cummins is 3-feet tall, and weighs 1100lbs, though, so I don’t know how well that would work.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:46 |
|
Because it would probably roll coal and is an “oh god, why” idea, how about the Cleveland Steamer?
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:47 |

Cumminer.
I feel dirty just typing that.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:47 |

I love it.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:47 |

Hurricane. because torque
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:47 |

Periscopes are still cool, right? I’ll use one of those.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:47 |
|
As mentioned to Jcarr, periscopes.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:48 |

No. Just... no.
I feel dirty reading that.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:49 |

Behold Chevy’s original V8 compact pickup concept. This has many of your concept’s elements, and it makes it look like a ridiculous idea.
I want one.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:50 |
|
Yes. Like that, but with more Challenger and huge engine blocking the view.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:50 |
|
Why not just bolt a challenger body onto a short bed regular cab 3500 chassis?
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:50 |
|
It’s a Challenger—what’s another 3’ and 1100lb?
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:50 |
|
Step One: Take a Hellcat Challenger.
Step Two: Replace blower with twin turbos.
Step Three: ????
Step Four: Enjoy your 900 lbs-ft for a fraction of the weight and cost.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:51 |

The simple answer is to put the engine in the back. That would help with traction too, right?
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:51 |
|
Charles Lindbergh managed.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:53 |

Hm. Interesting idea. Mount it transversely so it fits, I guess. It would be like what would happen if a 911 took copious amounts of every drug.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:53 |
|
Hm. Maybe. Probably not, too simple.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:54 |
|
But where’s the fun and lack of logic in that?
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:55 |
|
Hasn't Mad Max taught you anything?
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:55 |

Fair point.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:56 |
|
Better than my idea. A viper v10 in a mini.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:56 |
|
IDK, but I’m starting to wonder why I haven’t heard about any tuned Hellcats yet.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 15:56 |

You’d probably need a Clubman in order to fit it in the back. If Renault can make a V6 in a Clio work, then I have nothing but faith in you.

LT4 in a smart car.

Everyone who has created one has died. Probably.

Hasn't that been done before?
![]() 06/22/2015 at 16:03 |

Form a firewall behind the front seats and put the engine longitudinally where the back seats would normally be. As for transmissions? That’s for the builders to work out. I’m an idea man. And my idea is a mid-engined Cummins turbo diesel. Should be simple!

I doubt it. Probably LS swapped, but not C7 Z06 swap yet :)

I know someone who has done something like that. It was a 1980’s 1-ton longbed crewcab dually frame, and an Aries K convertible.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 16:09 |

You have my frankencar guy beat. He put a Camry body on an F-250 chassis.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 16:10 |
|
All they used was the body, that’s cheating.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 16:12 |

The Coalcat
![]() 06/22/2015 at 16:13 |
|
Yeah. It kinda is
![]() 06/22/2015 at 16:13 |

The same guy also cut down a Geo Metro to use a CBR1000RR rear suspension and wheel. Last I knew, he was in the process of stuffing a Toronado 455 into the back of a Mazda MX-3 V6 - the plan was for the Mazda 1.8L V6 to power the front wheels, and the Olds 455 to power the back.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 16:22 |

I demand pictures, if you have any.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 16:24 |
|
I don’t have any right now. I have two days off starting tomorrow - I’ll have to head over to the guy’s shop and see if it’s still under a tarp out back.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 17:35 |

Ummm why remove blower? Twincharging is the bomb (not really but is much better than either turbos or superchargers and this is very long and rambley and I should probably stop rambling but twin charged is better.)
![]() 06/22/2015 at 17:40 |
|
Nope, even better idea. Take 2 hellcat v8s, make a Veyron style w16 and put it in the viper (after adding twin turbo as well as supercharger) fastest front engined rwd car ever!
![]() 06/22/2015 at 18:02 |
|
Step 1: Done.
Now, can anyone lend me a 6.7 liter engine with 900 lb-ft of torque?
![]() 06/22/2015 at 20:02 |
|
Wouldn’t fit, cummins is too tall. Well, it could fit but would probably look all wonky. No hood, etc. Might as well make a rat rod, wouldn’t look much different at that point.
![]() 06/22/2015 at 20:28 |

Cumminer? I just met her!
![]() 06/22/2015 at 21:57 |

Please do.
